Chocolate Review 3 - Dolfin - Dark with Mint Leaves
Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 09:11PM
It took me a while to write this, because I really wanted to like this bar. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Dolfin Chocolat - Noir - Aux Feuilles De Menthe
I saw it on the chocolate bar wall and I quickly pulled it off the wall at Bittersweet. I fell for the packaging, and it's pretty unique. You unravel the envelope to find the chocolate tucked in a safely sealed lining.
With your first bite it will immediately taste dry, probably due to the mint leaves. I'm not a big fan of dry chocolate. It does taste lighter and the mint leaves surprisingly taste fresh, but I just couldn't get into this bar.
The chocolate itself is not spectacular and there is a drippy sugary taste to it, as if you opened a small sugar packet and poured some of it in your mouth. If you like that kind of thing, then maybe this is the bar for you.
I still love the packaging, but looks aren't everything.
Rating: 2 cacao beans out of 5
Price: $3.99
