Why I'm voting for Obama
Sunday, October 19, 2008 at 09:14AM
I'll try and keep the political talk on this blog to a minimum. I do enough squawking on Plurk and Twitter and even my Posterous blog. But the endorsement of Obama by Colin Powell is HUGE. What he says about the state of the Republican party, Palin, and the attack tactics of the McCain campaign ring so sensibly. His statement in this video hits at the heart of why Obama should be the next President of the United States.
I will also say that if I could vote for Colin Powell, I would (and not as a write-in, as an official candidate).

Thank you Mr. Powell for pointing out that not only is Senator Obama not a Muslim, but it shouldn't matter if he was. McCain should put Powell on his campaign staff.
I think you mean that *Obama* should put Powell on his campaign staff, right? Hell, I think Obama should put Powell on his cabinet. Secretary of State II: The Sequel!
Seriously: bipartisan cabinets. Good idea.
Oh that gave me chills! I love that they just let him talk for over 7 minutes without interruption. Having the endorsement of a military guy like Powell certainly won't hurt Obama's campaign. It's rational discussion like this that renews my faith in what has been a pretty nasty campaign season.
Huge shift indeed!! I commented this to my in-laws (big Powell fans)....they voted for McCain about 5 days ago. When I brought this up, they didn't want to discuss it.
Powell is so diplomatic it *almost* makes me ill. But in all seriousness, I hope more "moderates" see this interview. The clarity with which he addresses the concerns brought up by McCain's smear campaign is impressive.
These are the conversations we should be having.
I admire both these men, and have unfortunately lost the shreds of admiration I had left for McCain. The GOP killed that man's soul.
