iPhone up and running!

Just an update - after much time, pain and sorrow (seriously), my iPhone is activated and running well.  AT&T did walk us through the process of detecting a bad SIM card, and helping us along the way for eventual iPhone victory.

I really do like the phone.

My iPhone Birthday Present -- on HOLD!

I finally made a decision I thought I would never make: buying an iPhone!

After careful consideration, my need for a smartphone came down to syncing. Since I own a Mac (and always will), the obvious choice for compatibilty is the iPhone. (BTW - Tom broke down and bought one too!)

So today, we nervously forked over the $$$$ for two 8G models and brought them home for activation. I couldn't wait to transfer my number and use the device. Unfortunately, I was slapped with this message. What a letdown!

Points

I finally "cashed" in some membership points I earned from American Express and got 25 songs from iTunes.

Sometimes I'm in the mood to purchase singles, but of course, this time I had an itch to buy whole albums. When I tried to purchase a full album, iTunes gave me a prompt that said I didn't have enough credits and that my credit card would be charged. Weird, because I had 17 song credits and Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble" only had 10 songs. I did buy the whole album, but I bought it per song.

There were some albums I really wanted with 15 songs at $9.99, but it didn't make sense for me to buy it with my `per song' credit. Honestly, I think the song credit system is a little wonky. I guess that new "Complete my Album" feature can bail me out. Plus, at startup iTunes stated that I could only buy songs sold for $0.99. My credits do not expire till Oct, but I'm guessing the new $1.29 EMI songs are off limits. Lame.

As I mentioned, I'm back on to the online world. Since my Super Sweet 16 post I've done the following:

Will this breakdown on me too?

I am frustrated with this external hard drive.  The one touch system is bullshit. The first one I bought died and they sent me a new one.  I'm a little scared to put anything on this drive, for fear it will conk out like the other one.

I have yet to call and ask if they can retrieve the info on the first drive (I forgot to ask them the first time I called).  There's not much on it, but I would still like to have it back.
