For Dog lovers!

I think this is my new favorite show. I'm not sure how frequent the episodes are released, but so far I like what I've seen

We've thought about taking Jango to the Dog Days event at the A's game, but I never mustered up the courage to see how she would behave. At home she hates it when cheer or applaud. I can only imagine what she would think in a big stadium. Oh, she also has a phobia of the sound of drums and the A's usually have a nice little drumming contingent in the bleachers. Maybe when she's really old we'll bring her.

In her defense, we did bring Jango to an outdoor movie night for a screening of Sixteen Candles last year. We even sat by the speakers and she endured all the yelling, screaming, and car crashes very well.

Dos Mil y Siete Anos - a short review

It's a new year, but before I really dive into 2008, I feel I must pause to review a few personal highlights:

  • Tom & I are home remodeling-challenged. Does that even make sense? Seriously, If I get a room remodeled in my house I will accomplish what seems like the impossible. But before I knock us down, he CAN change light fixtures and I do well with a paint brush. Crown molding and tile? Well, that's another story.

  • Bathroom remodel vs. Maui Time Share - Time Share won

  • Cafe con Leche is a morning ritual - thanks Barcelona!

  • The fall season = another weird Jango malady and a vet bill that stings (but she's worth it)

  • The A's are rebuilding till they get their new stadium - and I'm not a happy fan

  • Juno was my favorite movie of 2007

  • I love video editing

Go A's!

I held back blogging about them because of superstition, and because I so badly wanted them to finally win a division series. THEY DID IT!

The best part about it for me - Tom & I were there!!!!!! I barely remember watching the celebration on the field. I just remember everyone going crazy in the stands. My favorite moment of the game (besides the final out), was chanting Marco Scutaro's name before and after he put the nail in the Twins' coffin.

I love this team. Bring on the next round!

Bye Bill!

I love the A's and its become more apparent as I watch the playoffs. I could care less who wins, especially now that Tom's Cardinals are out. But even while they were still in the heat of the race to the World Series, I couldn't help thinking, "damn, I wish my team was still playing".

Now the A's are without its voice and that makes this payoff season even sadder. In the day I've read a bunch of articles on Bill King's passing and this quote from his partner in the booth, Ken Korach, sums up how great Bill King was for Broadcasting and the A's:

"Bill was a great partner. He cared deeply about the broadcasts and was very serious about his work, but he never saw himself as more important than the game. He loved the A's. He hated to see the team lose, and he got emotional when they won, but he never became a homer."

Take that, Hawk Harrelson!

It sucks that Bill will not call next year's games...a year where the team looks like it could go all the way. You can read the rest of Ken's article here
