Vij's in Vancouver

Before I forget my experience, I thought I would write down one of the most amazing restaurants I have ever dined in - Vij's.

Our Lonely Planet Vancouver travel guide recommended this Indian restaurant praising the "Lamb Popsicles". They also mentioned that the wait is often long. So, Tom & I arrive at 5:20p (10 mins before it officially opens). Thankfully we arrived early because there was already a long line (they don't take reservations) to get in.

Once we were seated, we were immediately served Chai and Nan. What a nice touch! The wait staff was friendly and efficient. In fact, we have a revolving server. I think 6 different members of the wait staff checked on us, took our order, served our food, and gave us the check. It was interesting, as I felt like everyone cared about our well being and it seemed as if we were openly invited to speak to the family at Vij's.

Vij's dinner

We ordered the Salmon and the Wild Boar for appetizers. The sauce in both dishes were simply amazing. I don't even think amazing is the best word to describe the taste that rolled into my mouth.

I ordered the Short Ribs with the red wine curry for dinner. Let me say that each bite kept tasting better and better. The kale was paired so well with the tender short ribs. I was sad when the dish was over.

Tom had the Halibut and it was also delicious. The crab in the dish was the best part!

This was by far, the best restaurant I've eaten in, in Vancouver. It's probably the best Indian food I've ever had. It's that good! Why did the experience have to end?

Coming up on the NetFlix queue

You would think that NetFlix = movie watching. Well, Tom and I currently have different interests.

My Queue:

Grey's Anatomy: Season 1: Disc 2
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 1
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 2
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 3
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 4
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 5
Grey's Anatomy: Season 2: Disc 6

Tom's Queue:

Baseball: Disc 8
Baseball: Disc 9
Baseball: Disc 10

It's just easier to watch the shows without commercials. Tom's selection is more of a documentary, but it still aired on PBS.

London Bridge

Silly song, but fun when you are dancing to it. Right Charisse?

There's also the Sweet Dreams dance. Fun night for the bride to be :)

Chocolate Review 3 - Dolfin - Dark with Mint Leaves

It took me a while to write this, because I really wanted to like this bar. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
Dolfin Chocolat - Noir - Aux Feuilles De Menthe

Dolfin

I saw it on the chocolate bar wall and I quickly pulled it off the wall at Bittersweet. I fell for the packaging, and it's pretty unique. You unravel the envelope to find the chocolate tucked in a safely sealed lining.

With your first bite it will immediately taste dry, probably due to the mint leaves. I'm not a big fan of dry chocolate. It does taste lighter and the mint leaves surprisingly taste fresh, but I just couldn't get into this bar.

The chocolate itself is not spectacular and there is a drippy sugary taste to it, as if you opened a small sugar packet and poured some of it in your mouth. If you like that kind of thing, then maybe this is the bar for you.

I still love the packaging, but looks aren't everything.

Rating: 2 cacao beans out of 5

Price: $3.99

thisnext

I found this site today: thisnext.com

I guess it's the yelp for products. I wish I would've found it sooner. I might've bought this dress for Charisse's wedding, instead of the one I found on Jcrew.

Oh well!
