I'd like to dance like this

After all these years, she's still one of my idols!

Raising Arizona

Our jaunt is over (cue the violins), so sad. Attending spring training games was the hook, but truthfully, we just wanted to hang out with our friend Doug and Pauline.

spring training '08

Highlights:

-watching the games wearing shorts and flip-flops!

-Dinner every night. Yeah, we ate well: (Mi Nidito, La Roca, and Don & Carley's)

-crossing the Mexican border on foot and crossing train tracks in the dark to get to our destination: La Roca restaurant

-meeting a young Cuban defector who is now playing for the White Sox = Alexi Ramirez

-our last day at the Westin Kierland Hotel & Resort - it's nice to enjoy a little luxury livin'

Every time I travel I try to envision living in the area. But I have to say, Arizona is just not for me. This girl has gotta have the ocean nearby!

This long weekend was a nice break from the construction and complete chaos in our home, but it's nice to be back and reunited with our Jango :)

I'm nervous...two days and counting

This week demolishing and destruction will take place at the back of my apartment and I'm a little nervous. I have no reason to be, but I think the thought of embarking on change always chokes me up at the beginning. Once it starts I'll be fine, but right now I'm asking myself "Did I prepare enough"?

Terms like "tub, left hand, tile flange" still confuse me, but I'm getting the hang of everything.

The New Look

While a enjoyed a little splash of cheery yellow, I decided that I needed a cleaner layout for this site.

This style is called Rhianna, and though I'm still tweaking it I think it looks pretty good. The biggest change will be the header. Ideas are welcomed!

In the meantime, I'm posting one of my very favorite Idol performances of all time, and it just happened last week! It's a performance of John Lennon's "Imagine" by David Archuleta. He's the front-runner this year and for very good reason.

More importantly, he delivered it in a way that moved even the harshest critics, at a time when this country needed to hear a song with a message about hope.

My topsy-turvy month ahead

Well, I almost blew off blogging for the month of February - ha!  I guess I'm sneaking in just in time.

Next month will be quite challenging for my patience.  Somehow Tom & I finally scrounged up enough money to pay for a bathroom remodel.  We would love to attempt the remodel ourselves, but there is no amount of medication and alcohol that would ease the pain.  Not to mention our blissful marriage would probably explode with such a venture.

It's bad enough arguing about how to carry a 48"x 21"granite vanity top up to our apartment.  I couldn't even imagine the war that would ensue while installing our beautiful subway tile.  So, it's best to keep our happy marriage intact and hire the professionals to deal with our moldy shower and outdated medicine cabinet.

I'm toying with the idea of making a daily video diary of the event. It would be for my own benefit, just to see how crazy I get.  Believe me, my life is pretty good right now so I preface all my complaining the next few months as idol whining.  If you don't like it, there's plenty of other places to read and view video.

I just need to document the small disruption I will go through for about 3 weeks.  I think it could be both frightening and comedic. We'll see what happens.
